BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan aim to achieve a trade turnover of $2 billion, Trend reports with reference to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This was discussed during the meeting of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan Dastan Dyushekeyev.
The sides addressed issues of cooperation in trade and investment, transit and transport, as well as water and energy balance.
Smailov outlined the development of mutual understanding in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas over 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two brotherly countries.
Speaking of mutual trade, the PM expressed his opinion on the product range expansion. The increasing mutual trade volume and reaching the target of $1 billion can be considered the key achievements in trade and economy overall. The new challenge is to achieve a trade volume of $2 billion.
"Kazakhstan has an offer for 190 commodity items with a potential for increasing trade. We need to expedite the project to establish industrial trade and logistics centers near the Karasu – Ak-Tilek (Kazakhstan – Kyrgyzstan) checkpoint," Smailov stated.
