BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 2. Kazakhstan has proposed to introduce a ban on the import of grain and products for grain processing by road, the Chairman of Kazakhstan's Grain Union Nurlan Ospanov said, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

According to him, this is necessary for the protection of Kazakh grain market and local producers.

"It's necessary to take urgent measures, support domestic prices at the level not lower than 125,000 tenge per ton of wheat of the fourth class. It's necessary to draw up a balance for supply and demand of grain, its processing products and declare the export potential for each type of "sensitive" products by September 1. Then it will be understood how much and what can exported next year. The business awaits such a signal from the Ministry of Agriculture," Ospanov said.

He also believes that it is necessary to abandon export restrictions, thus maintaining a stable effective demand in the grain market, monitor and take prompt response measures against people who allow dumping of export prices, which have a direct impact on domestic prices.

"Even quotas on export cannot be introduced, and it is necessary to abandon regulatory measures this year. Our goal is to keep the prices on the domestic market, so that farmers can earn income. It's necessary to create a constant and effective demand at the market," Ospanov added.
