BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. France has been one of the five largest investors in Kazakhstan since 2005, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko, Trend reports with reference to inform.kz.

According to him, France is one of the most important trade, economic and political partners of Kazakhstan, having invested more than $17 billion since 2005.

"Kazakhstan has signed a strategic partnership agreement with France in 2008. To date, more than 170 French companies or companies with French participation are operating in Kazakhstan," Vassilenko said.

Vassilenko also touched upon the recent official visit of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to France.

"During this visit, a number of economic agreements were concluded between Kazakhstan and France, in particular, on the expansion of the production of locomotives and other types of equipment of a French company," he said.

In addition, Vassilenko said that an agreement was signed on the construction of a wind power plant in Kazakhstan's Jambyl region with a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts.
