BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 7. Kazakhstan’s Kazzinc, producer of zinc, lead and precious metals, has devised a strategy to combat pollution, and will receive $100 million to implement it, Zulfukhar Zholdasov, the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, stated, Trend reports, citing the Central Communication Service of the President.

Speaking at an event held at the Communication Service, Zholdasov said that successful implementation of the strategy will allow cutting sulfur dioxide emissions by 20 percent before 2025.

He added that as a result of 4 inspections, undertaken from January through November, 35 fines were issued. The total value of fines is around 35 million Kazakh tenge ($74,000).

The modernization of the enterprise is carried out in the framework of 'Jasyl' Kazakhstan national project, aimed at improving and preserving the environmental situation in the country.
