BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. The completion of the aviation hub located in Shymkent Airport is of utmost importance, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, said, Trend reports, citing the press service of the President.
The statement was made during the meeting of the Head of State with the President of SCAT airlines, Vladimir Denisov.
President Tokayev also stressed the importance of improving the competitiveness of airline transportation in the region to boost the quality of service.
Denisov said that SCAT is working on the construction of the terminal complex located at Shymkent airport, in addition to discussing the corporate development strategy to be implemented before 2030.
SCAT Airlines is a low-cost airline with its head office in Shymkent International Airport. The airline passenger turnover amounted to around 10.8 million people in 2022. Around 2.7 million passengers were transported by the company. This makes the company the third-largest airline in terms of the number of passengers served.
The growth of air transportation infrastructure is a part of Kazakhstan's transportation development strategy, which will turn the country into a major transportation and logistics hub.
