BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 2. Kazakhstan will allocate around 9 billion Kazakh tenge ($19.75 million) for subsidizing farmers in the North Kazakhstan Region, Trend reports, citing the national legislative portal.

The relevant legal acts have been placed on the portal for public discussion.

According to the legal acts, 7 billion Kazakh tenge ($15.36 million) will be allotted for fertilizer subsidies. However, organic fertilizers are exempt from subsidies.

The purpose of the program is to increase the productivity and gross harvest of agricultural crops, as well as to ensure the preservation of soil fertility through the use of mineral fertilizers.

Around 1.7 billion Kazakh tenge ($3.73 million) will be provided for developing seed production. Some 680 million Kazakh tenge ($1.92 million) will be used for elite seeds subsidizing.

Additionally, some 9.5 billion Kazakh tenge will be allocated for subsidizing animal husbandry.

The matter of developing the agriculture sector became one of the key priorities for the Kazakh government. By assisting the development of the sector, Kazakhstan looks to guarantee the food security of the country, in addition to curbing the negative impact of inflation on food prices.

Yesterday, Kazakhstan discussed the draft Concept for the development of the agro-industrial complex until 2030. The Concept was developed with the participation of government representatives, experts, and business leaders. The document is expected to serve as a strategy for combating global challenges and potentially harmful global trends, which may harm the Kazakh agriculture sector.
