BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. The number of vehicles registered in Kazakhstan increased by 3.7 percent in 2022, reaching 4.44 million, Trend reports, citing the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan.
Some 87.9 percent of the total belongs to the passenger cars category, 10 percent to lorries, and 2.1 percent of vehicles in the country are buses.
As of 1 January 2023, the number of buses increased by 24.7 percent, lorries by 7.1 percent, and the amount of passenger cars grew by 2.9 percent in year-over-year terms.
The average age of vehicles registered in the country exceeds 20 years in 51 percent of the cases, while 21 percent of the total vehicle fleet is between 10–20 years of age. Some 14 percent of the vehicles are aged from 7 to 10 years, while the percentage of cars manufactured from 3 to 7 years ago equals 6 percent.
Consequently, only 8 percent of vehicles have been manufactured
less than three years ago.
In regional terms, the highest number of passenger cars is
registered in the Almaty region (472,500 cars). Almaty city alone
is home to around 448,200 cars, while the East Kazakhstan region
has 272,900 cars registered.
