BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 24. QazaqGaz continues work on construction of gas processing plant near the Kashagan field, Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz, national gas company, said, Trend reports, citing the press service of the President.

The statement was made during the meeting between Zharkeshov and the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The plant is expected to be commissioned in 2025. It is expected that the output of the plant will reach 1 billion cubic meters of raw sour gas per annum. Currently, around 750 people participate in the construction of the plant. The number of people employed in the implementation of the project is expected to reach 2,000 people at a certain point in time.

President Tokayev and Zharkeshov also discussed other projects under the implementation of QazaqGaz, including the construction of the second string of the “Beyneu-Zhanaozen” pipeline and the expansion of the Makat-North Caucasus pipeline.

The plans of the Kazakh government include the construction of two gas processing plants near Kashagan before the end of 2029. Their total output is expected to amount to 3.1 billion cubic meters of gas.

Earlier, government officials revealed that “ZhaikMunay” gas processing plant will be modernized to up its production to 4 billion cubic meters of gas. The government plans to increase the volume of available commercial gas to 30 billion cubic meters by 2029.
