BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. Kazakhstan’s agriculture subsidy plan drew significant attention with 3,067 applications having already been filled for an overall sum of 17.1 billion Kazakh tenge ($38 million), Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

The government already approved applications worth around 134.6 million Kazakh tenge ($299,150), and 20 million Kazakh tenge ($44,450) were already provided to farmers in the framework of the program launched on 1 February.

While the new program is drawing significant attention, the Ministry points out that regional municipalities have to allocate subsidies on 4,025 applications received in 2022. These municipalities will have to eliminate the backlog before processing new applications.

The Ministry also notes that the allocation of funds on the approved applications is being carried out in order of approval. This is done to eliminate the possibility of preferential treatment.

Kazakh authorities are systematically developing rural areas in a bid to improve the living standards of the local population and utilize the unexplored potential of the regions. Rural development is one of the key priorities of the government. To achieve this goal, recently, Kazakhstan discussed the draft Concept for the development of the agro-industrial complex until 2030. The Concept was developed with the participation of government representatives, experts, and business leaders.

The document is expected to serve as a strategy for combating global challenges and potentially harmful global trends, which may harm the Kazakh agriculture sector.
