BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 26. Consumption of liquefied gas surged by 28 percent or 400,000 tons in Kazakhstan in 2022, Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Askhat Khassenov said during a meeting with the suppliers of petroleum products and liquefied gas in the West Kazakhstan region, Trend reports.
He noted that this increase was observed in spite of the decline in the production of liquefied gas.
Furthermore, during the discussions, one of the gas station owners shared calculations, revealing a 25 percent rise in the sale of liquefied gas over the past year due to its lower prices, while gasoline sales decreased by 15 percent.
Market participants added that, under market pricing conditions, the retail price of liquefied gas as a motor fuel should be 70 percent of the price of RON-92 gasoline. Presently, official data indicates that Kazakh motorists are actively switching to gas due to the significant price difference compared to other fuel types.
In addition, during the meeting, the energy vice minister also addressed the upcoming changes in the law aimed at reengineering the regulatory processes for managing the trade of liquefied petroleum gas. These innovations are expected to enhance transparency within the liquefied gas market.
