BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Kazakhstan has emerged as one of Uzbekistan's top three trading partners, as the trade volume between the two countries reached $1.9 billion in the first five months of this year, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekistan's statistics committee, China remains the largest trading partner for Uzbekistan, with a trade turnover of $4.5 billion, accounting for 17.6 percent of the total volume. Russia follows closely in second place with a turnover of $3.8 billion (14.9 percent). Kazakhstan ranks third, with a trade volume of $1.9 billion (7.5 percent).
In terms of the trade structure, Uzbekistan exported goods worth $576.7 million to Kazakhstan while importing goods worth $1.35 billion.
Overall, Uzbekistan's total foreign trade turnover reached $25.8 billion during the first five months of 2023, marking a significant increase of $5.2 billion or 25.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
In 2022, the bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached $5 billion.
