Kazakhstan allocates huge funds for renovation of Ridder power station

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 14. Kazakh government has allocated 8.3 billion Kazakh tenge ($18.7 million) for renovations of the Ridder thermal power plant (TPP), Trend reports.

This was stated during the visit of Kazakhstan's Energy Ministry Almassadam Satkaliyev to the East Kazakhstan region in order to conduct a technical inspection of the heating networks.

He noted that in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the regional akimat (administration), a mechanism for allocating funds from the government's reserve has been developed. The necessary state expert assessments have been obtained for the project cost estimates related to the repairs, with the total cost amounting to 8.3 billion tenge.

It was also noted that a total of 8 contracting organizations have been involved in the repair work at Ridder TPP. The repairs at Ridder TPP are planned to be completed on schedule before the start of the heating season.

The minister also talked about the overall electricity production in the region. According to him, the current electricity production in the region has reached 3.4 billion kWh, while the internal consumption stands at 3.9 billion kWh. The total length of the electric networks in the region exceeds 21,000 km.
