ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 27. The National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) processed a total of 441 trillion Kazakh tenge ($991.5 billion) through its payment systems for non-cash payments and transfers in the national currency during the first half of 2023, Trend reports.

The NBK's payment systems, the Interbank Money Transfer System, and the Interbank Clearing System play a vital role in ensuring seamless functioning of the national payment system, serving as the infrastructure for non-cash settlements in the country.

On average, the NBK's payment systems handle payments totaling around 6 billion Kazakh tenge ($13.4 million) per minute. Over the course of the first half of 2023, the Interbank Money Transfer System and Interbank Clearing System facilitated 35.3 million transactions, amounting to a total value of 441.1 trillion Kazakh tenge ($991.2 billion).

During operational days, these payment systems experience an average load of 294,300 transactions, equivalent to 3.7 trillion Kazakh tenge ($8.3 million) daily. The peak of activity observed between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

The operational efficiency of the National Bank's payment systems was exceptionally high during this period, with a workability coefficient of 99.98 percent.

This performance surpasses the set target indicators and underscores the effectiveness and reliability of the national payment system.
