ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 28. Over 185,000 containers were processed in Kazakhstan's KTZE-Khorgos Gateway dry port in the first half of this year, which is 21.3 percent more compared to the same period of the previous year, Trend reports.
This was stated during the working trip of the Chairman of the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund, Nurlan Zhakupov, to the Zhetysu Region.
As part of the visit, the head of the fund was presented with the technological operations of the largest dry port in Central Asia, KTZE-Khorgos Gateway. The port plays a crucial role in handling, storing, and transshipping goods passing through the Kazakhstan-China border. Covering an area of 129 hectares, the dry port features a container yard with a capacity of 18,000 containers, a container terminal with six approach tracks, and three RMG gantry cranes.
During the visit, Nurlan Zhakupov laid the foundation for the construction of ten sorting railway tracks and a current maintenance siding for wagons. These additions are expected to boost the terminal's processing capacity from 540,000 to 800,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units).
