ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 25. The volume of cargo transportation by rail in Kazakhstan amounted to 145.9 million tons for the period from January to July 2023, Trend reports.

The volume of coal amounted to more than 60 million tons, which is 40 percent of all transportation through the KTZ.

In addition, 18.3 million tons of solid fuel and 41.7 million tons of coal for domestic consumption were exported from Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) actively cooperates with coal mining companies, providing services aimed at optimizing the movement of wagons and providing the population and thermal power plants with solid fuel.

The LLP "KTZ-Cargo Transportation" is implementing a roadmap to ensure smooth and regular transportation of coal. Within the framework of this plan, measures are envisaged to accelerate the transportation process and improve the condition of the fleet of wagons and locomotives.

In addition, the KTZ actively manages the operational headquarters engaged in the coordination of solid fuel transportation and has established the work of regional monitoring groups. Daily monitoring of coal supply at the station and on various sections of the railway, as well as the availability of solid fuel in warehouses, is carried out.

Moreover, to ensure optimal use of the fleet of wagons and increase the capacity of the infrastructure, dispatching support for empty and loaded coal transportation routes has been organized.

In the upcoming autumn-winter period, it is planned to involve about 22,000 gondola cars of Kaztemirtrans JSC in the transportation of coal, which is 2,000 more cars than in the last heating season.
