ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 19. Trade turnover between the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan and Türkiye amounted to $1 billion from January through July 2023, Trend reports.

This was stated during a meeting between the deputy head of the regional executive power, Marat Murziyev, and the Consul General of Türkiye in the city of Aktau, Sabri Alptekin.

"Today, over 120 companies with Turkish capital operate in the Atyrau region. Trade turnover between the region and Türkiye this year amounted to $1 billion. In addition to oil and gas, there are many other types of industries in the region. We plan to increase their level of development. In particular, a lot of work can be done in the tourism sector," Marat Murziyev said.

At the meeting, issues of investment prospects for the Atyrau region, development of tourism and education, and strengthening friendly relations were also discussed.

The Republic of Türkiye is Kazakhstan's fourth-largest trading partner. Last year, trade turnover between the countries reached $6.3 billion, and for seven months of this year, this figure amounted to $3.6 billion. At the moment, Türkiye has directly invested $4.7 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan and is one of the ten largest investors.
