ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 22. Vietnamese holding SOVICO Group is interested in acquiring Kazakh airline Qazaq Air, Trend reports.
This was stated during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Chairman of the holding Nguyen Thanh Hung.
The sides also addressed prospective areas for bilateral cooperation. Joint development of e-commerce and logistics services is being investigated.
During Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Vietnam, the groundwork for growing collaboration between Kazakhstan and SOVICO Group was laid. Then, with Kazpost JSC, an agreement on joint cooperation was inked.
A few days ago, an agreement on the provision of customs declaration of products and logistics services was reached.
Kazakhstan, as Zhumangarin pointed out, need strong airlines and logistics, and SOVICO Group has both.
Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Vietnam from January through September 2023 amounted to $808.6 million, which is 2.3 times higher than for the same period of the previous year ($351.6 million).
Exports from Kazakhstan to Vietnam from January through September 2023 increased 2.7 times, amounting to $146.8 million. Imports increased 2.2 times ($661.8 million).
