ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 1. The volume of cargo transportation by rail in Kazakhstan amounted to 270 million tons from January through November 2023, Trend reports.
As reported by the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the volume of cargo transportation increased by 3.5 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
Export (growth of 8.5 percent), import (growth of 10.9 percent) and transit transportation (growth of 18.9 percent) showed noticeable growth.
In particular, the volume of transportation of iron ore increased by 8 percent, petroleum products by 11 percent, construction materials by 5 percent, grain by 23 percent, chemicals by 16 percent, fertilizers by 20 percent and ferrous metals by 9 percent.
The ministry expects the volume of cargo transported by rail to increase to 300 million tons by the end of 2023.
According to expectations, the volume for domestic traffic will reach 166 million, for export - 87 million, for import - 18 million and for transit - 29 million tons.
