ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 4. KazMunayGas (KMG, Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company) put into operation the Eastern Urikhtau oil and gas field in the Mugalzhar district of the Aktobe region, KMG told Trend.
The East Urikhtau oil and gas field (recoverable oil reserves of 4.7 million tons and dissolved gas of 2.5 billion cubic meters) was discovered in 2015.
In 2020, this field went into trial production. The reactivation, development, and eventual commissioning of the East Urikhtau-1 and 2 wells were completed successfully as part of the trial operation.
Eastern Urikhtau's oil and gas output is estimated to reach 89 thousand tons of oil and 46 million cubic meters of gas in 2024.
It is planned to drill an additional nine producing wells as part of the further development of the Eastern Urikhtau field, increasing oil production to 200,000 tons per year and related gas production to 100 million cubic meters per year.
According to the KMG, getting Eastern Urikhtau into action is a crucial step toward full-scale development of the Central Urikhtau field.
Central Urikhtau is a gas condensate field with large natural gas reserves. Gas production in this area is expected to be one billion cubic meters per year.
Kazakhstan's oil production in 2022 was 84.2 million tons, or 101.6 percent of the targeted level.
The Tengiz field produced 29.2 million tons of oil, or 100 percent of the total planned for 2022. The Karachaganak field produced 11.3 million tons of oil, accounting for 103.8 percent of the planned output. Oil production at Kashagan reached 12.7 million tons, representing a 109.5 percent increase.
In 2022, oil exports were 64.3 million tons, or 103.4 percent of the planned total.
Kazakhstan also intends to produce 90.5 million tons of oil in 2023, 71 million of which will be exported.
Kazakhstan's oil production stood at 85.9 million tons at the end of 2021, up from 85.7 million tons in 2020.
