ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 14. An ammonia-urea complex will be built in Kazakhstan's Aktau city and a polyethylene production plant in the Atyrau region in cooperation with Spanish Tecnicas Reunidas, Trend reports.
This topic was discussed during a meeting between the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, and the executive chairman of the Spanish company, Juan Liado.
"We appreciate Tecnicas Reunidas' collaboration with KazAzot and KazMunayGas in developing design documents for a new ammonia-urea complex in Aktau, as well as polyethylene production in the Atyrau region," Smailov said.
As he noted, the construction of an ammonia-urea complex will allow for the production of a new product for Kazakhstan: urea.
According to the PM, along with this, the construction of a large-scale polyethylene production complex will make a significant contribution to the further diversification of the country's economy.
Meanwhile, Spain is one of the key trade and economic partners of Kazakhstan in the EU. In particular, trade turnover between the countries last year increased by 42 percent.
In total, Spanish companies have invested about $300 million in Kazakhstan since 2005. Leading Spanish brands are widely represented in the country, including Maxam, Inditex, Pronovias, and others.
