ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 15. Kazakhstan's Kaztemirtrans JSC has exceeded the plan for railroad car repair based on the results of 11 months in 2023, Trend reports.
Thus, the plan for 11 months was to repair more than 11,900 railroad cars, with fulfillment outcomes of 103 percent—over 12,300 railroad cars were repaired.
Depot repairs were carried out on 7,345 railroad cars. 2,706 railroad cars underwent major repairs, and 2,313 underwent depot repairs with service life extensions.
Meanwhile, Kaztemirtrans JSC is gradually upgrading its freight car fleet. More than 25,000 railcars have been purchased in the last decade. It is expected to purchase around 3,000 extra freight cars by 2025.
From January through October 2023, the corporation transported 76.4 million tons of cargo using railway cars from its fleet.
To note, coal, construction materials (crushed stone), industrial raw materials, grain, and other commodities are the most common cargoes transported by KTT wagons.
