ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 27. Kazakhstan has made substantial efforts to increase gas production levels and provide natural gas to population by 2023, Trend reports.

According to the official data, one of the largest projects this year was the commissioning of the large Rozhkovskoye field in the West Kazakhstan region, which will become a source of additional volumes of natural gas.

Thus, in the period until 2040, it is planned to produce here 14.2 billion cubic meters of raw gas and 7.1 million tons of condensate. The development of the field will replenish the National Fund of Kazakhstan by more than 500 billion tenge (about $1.09 billion) and the local budget by 110 billion tenge (about $239 million).

In addition, the Aksay South field was put into operation in May, and the Eastern Urikhtau field was put into operation in early December. In the medium term, the launch of several more gas projects is expected, including Urikhtau Central (Aktobe region), Western Prorva (Atyrau region), and Kalamkas (Mangystau region).

Moreover, this year, the second string of the Beyneu-Zhanaozen gas pipeline was launched. About 180 billion tenge were invested in the project using the own funds of QazaqGaz (Kazakhstan's national company) and Samruk-Kazyna JSC (Kazakhstan's national welfare fund).

At the same time, a gas distribution pipeline was built to the "Sarsha" area and the "Teply Plyaj" resort area in the Mangystau region. The cost of the project is 8.3 billion tenge (about $18 million).

Moreover, construction of a gas supply pipeline and gas distribution networks is underway in the city of Tekeli. About 1.9 billion tenge (about $4.1 million) have been allocated for 2023, and about 190 km have been constructed. Full completion of the work is planned for 2024.

In addition, the construction of a looping of the Makat-North Caucasus main gas pipeline worth about 100 billion tenge (about $217.5 million) has been completed in the Atyrau region.

Meanwhile, 53.8 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from January through November 2023, which is 12 percent more than from January through November last year.

In addition, during the above period, 26.9 billion cubic meters of commercial gas were produced. This figure is 6 percent higher than the same period last year.
