ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 6. Loading on the Kazakhstan Railways network (KTZ, national company) amounted to 257.3 million tons from January through December 2023, which is 5 million tons higher than in 2022, Trend reports.
According to the data from KTZ, exports increased by 9 percent to 85.8 million tons.
At the end of the year, the loading of bituminous coal throughout the country remained at the level of 2022 and amounted to 74 million tons, 31.7 million tons were shipped for export. The volume of grain transportation increased by 12.2 percent compared to 2022, to 11.2 million tons, of which 9 million tons were exported, an increase of 12.7 percent. Transportation of grinding products amounted to more than 3 million tons, which corresponds to the level of 2022.
In addition, loading of oil cargo amounted to 18.8 million tons (an increase of 2 percent compared to 2022); iron and manganese ore – 20.8 million tons (an increase of 10 percent compared to 2022); chemical fertilizers – 4 million tons (an increase of 2.3 percent compared to 2022); non-ferrous ore and sulfur raw materials – 22.5 million tons (an increase of 2 percent compared to 2022); construction materials – 17 million tons (an increase of 8.2 percent compared to 2022).
At the same time, 3.2 million tons of crushed stone were delivered to the western regions of the country for the construction of highways.
