ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 16. Kazakhstan's modernized Atyrau, Pavlodar, and Shymkent refineries are ready to produce Jet - A1 fuel instead of TS-1/RT in the amount of 50,000–55,000 tons per month, Daulet Arykbayev, Director of the Department of Oil Transportation and Oil Refining of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.

He made the remark during working meetings at the sites of the international airports of Astana and Almaty.

According to him, once the transportation and consumption infrastructure is in place, a phased transfer of refineries to Jet-A1 production will commence.

After renovation, Kazakh refineries boosted TS-1 jet fuel production from 438,200 to 624,000 tons per year between 2020 and 2023.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan agreed to progressively transition to JET A-1 fuel, taking into consideration airport capacities and needs. According to Almaty airport personnel, the company is continuing to update the fuel and refueling complex with the goal of totally transitioning to aviation gasoline manufactured in accordance with the global standard ASTM D1655.

In addition, according to KazMunayGas' (Kazakhstan national oil and gas company) representatives, KMG's oil refineries are ready to produce jet fuel of the international brand Jet A-1, which is used in more than 70 countries around the world. As KMG experts explained, the production of Jet A-1 involves a complete reconfiguration of the corresponding plant capacities since the parallel production of TS-1 fuel is impossible.
