ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 2. Kazakhstan's Atyrau Oil Refinery has processed almost 5.5 million tons of oil in 2023, said the Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas (KMG, national oil and gas company) Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Trend reports.
He made the remark during a visit to the refinery.
"Today the plant is operating normally. There are no interruptions in the production and shipment of products. Last year, the enterprise, which underwent a three-stage modernization, achieved record levels. Almost 5.5 million tons of oil were processed and about 4.9 million tons of marketable products were produced. The average processing depth also increased to a record 82.1 percent," he said.
He also commented on recent incidents at Atyrau Oil Refinery installations.
"We still have work to do. In particular, the equipment in the old part of the plant, untouched by modernization, has been in operation since the 1940s. These installations are located precisely in this part of the plant. Now the Atyrau Oil Refinery has initiated a project to increase operational efficiency, within the framework of which, among other things, it is planned to upgrade equipment in this part of the plant. The plant is implementing a number of environmental projects. There are also plans to build a gas turbine power plant to make power supply more reliable and reduce the risks of emergency emissions into the atmosphere," Mirzagaliyev noted.
