ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 4. Kazakhstan has greatly increased IT exports in 2023, said the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry, Bagdat Musin, Trend reports.

He made the remark during a round table with representatives of leading IT exporters.

"Today, Kazakhstan’s IT exports are showing rapid growth. In 2020, the country’s IT exports amounted to about $30 million, and in 2023, according to forecasts, they exceeded $500 million. That is, IT exports have grown almost 20 times in 3 years. This contributes to economic growth; wages and taxes are paid," he said.

During the discussion, Bagdat Musin noted the importance of exporting IT services and also identified further steps. He also noted the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors for further sustainable development.

As Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev previously stated, Kazakhstan plans to increase the export of IT services to $1 billion by 2026. As he noted, this will be facilitated by the opening of joint ventures with large foreign IT companies.

"We are facing a strategically important task: to turn Kazakhstan into an IT country. We already have achievements in the field of digitalization; we are among the world leaders in the e-government and fintech development index," he said.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan expects to increase the export of innovative information and communication technologies (ICT). The growth of ICT sector exports is outlined in the new government plan, which will run through 2027.
