ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 5. Kazakhstan plans to put into operation 11 renewable energy facilities in 2024, said the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almassadam Satkaliyev during a meeting of the board, Trend reports.
"In 2024, it is planned to put into operation 11 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 259 MW," he said.
According to the minister, the total capacity of renewable energy facilities that will be put into operation will be 259 MW.
In addition to this, Satkaliyev noted that in 2024, work will continue on the project to connect the electrical networks of Western Kazakhstan to the Unified Energy System (the project will improve the country’s energy security and involve the gas capacities of the western regions in the country’s energy balance).
"It is also planned to complete a large-scale project to restore the first power unit at Ekibastuz State District Power Plant-1 (500 MW) and commission additional capacities at Topar State District Power Plant (130 MW) and Atyrau Thermal Power Plant (65 MW)," he said.
The minister pointed out that this year, major repairs are planned at energy facilities and power lines.
"For 2024, major and extended maintenance repairs of 10 power units, 55 power boilers, and 45 turbines are planned, as well as repair work on power transmission lines with a total length of 20,900 km and repairs at 423 substations," the minister noted.
Meanwhile, electric energy generation in Kazakhstan is carried out by 222 power plants, of which 146 are renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 2.8 GW.
Today, there are 220 power plants operating in the country, including 144 renewable energy ones, with a total capacity of 2.8 GW. In general, as of January 1, 2024, the total available capacity was 20.4 GW, and the maximum consumption in the current autumn-winter period was 16.6 GW.
