ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 19. The green energy transition is critical to promoting energy efficiency amid climatic stress in Central Asia, as stated in the final communiqué of the B5+1 Forum, which took place in Almaty (Kazakhstan), Trend reports.

"The green and renewable energy transition is critical to promoting energy efficiency and modernization amid climatic, energy, and water stress in Central Asia," the communiqué says.

Thus, to advance commercially affordable and attractive mechanisms, B5+1 recommends:

adoption of industry-specific environmental and other requirements, as well as regional guidelines for the shift to green energy;

more intensive public-private partnerships and discussions between government leaders, industry professionals, and associations focused on green and renewable energy.

Meanwhile, from March 13 to 15, 2024, a B5+1 Forum was held in Almaty with the participation of representatives of governments and business communities in Central Asian countries and the United States. The B5+1 initiative aims to foster active collaboration between governments and the business community, providing a platform for discussions on crucial economic matters in the Central Asian region and outlining specific steps to address them.

The decision to establish a dedicated business platform was reached during the C5+1 summit of Central Asian and US leaders in New York in September. This platform is anticipated to complement the C5+1 initiative and enhance economic cooperation between Central Asia and the US.
