ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 4. About 71,900 transactions worth 19.1 billion tenge (about $42.8 million) were sent to Kazakhstan from abroad through international money transfer systems in February 2024, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that, compared to January 2024, the number of money transfers received increased by 0.9 percent and the volume of transactions decreased by 7.2 percent.
In February, the largest number of transfers from abroad were made through Zolotaya Korona, Western Union, MoneyGram, Contact, and others.
In terms of the volume of money transfers to Kazakhstan from abroad, the leaders are: Russia: 5.7 billion tenge or about $12.7 million (share 29.7 percent); the US: 2.3 billion tenge or about $5.1 million (share 12.1 percent); South Korea: 1.9 billion tenge or about $4.2 million (share 10.3 percent); Uzbekistan: 1.7 billion or about $3.8 million (share 9 percent); Türkiye: 1.4 billion or about $3.1 million (share 7.5 percent).
Moreover, the main share of transfers through international systems was carried out in US dollars (share of the total number of transfers: 36.7 percent, share of the total volume of transfers: 55.1 percent) and in Kazakhstani tenge (34.2 percent and 25 percent, respectively).
