ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 7. The volume of industrial production in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan amounted to 258.8 billion tenge (about $580 million) from January through April 2024, Trend reports, citing the Ministry of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the volume of production in the mining industry increased by 11.6 percent, which is 35.2 billion tenge (about $78.8 million), while the volume of investments in fixed capital in the region amounted to 109.5 billion tenge (about $245 million).
Citing the Ministry, the region's economy saw an influx of over
75 billion tenge (circa $168 million) in investments last year.
Additionally, 13 new industries were established, leading to the
creation of 550 new job opportunities.
Furthermore, there are plans to execute 19 projects valued at 177
billion tenge (approximately $396 million) in 2024.
Overall, the investment portfolio in the Zhambyl region until 2026
consists of 70 projects valued at 2.5 trillion tenge, which will
result in the creation of 6,000 jobs.
The largest project is the new chemical complex of the EuroChem company in the Sarysu district. The total investment volume of EuroChem will exceed 444 billion tenge (about $995 million). The expected volume of output will be more than 1 million tons of mineral fertilizers and related industrial products per year. After the launch of the chemical complex, it will provide jobs for 1,200 people.
Meanwhile, the volume of industrial production in Kazakhstan amounted to 46.4 trillion tenge (about $102.5 billion) from January through December 2023. Compared to 2022, production increased by 4.3 percent.
Thus, production volume in the mining and quarrying industry amounted to 21.7 trillion tenge (about $47.9 billion), which is 4.6 percent more than in 2022. In addition, production in this area accounted for 46.9 percent of total industrial production.
At the same time, production in the manufacturing industry saw a significant increase of 4.1 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 21.6 trillion tenge (approximately $47.7 billion). 46.6 percent of total industrial production was covered by the manufacturing industry.
