ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 8. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have adopted a new 10-year Strategic Partnership and Alliance Program, Trend reports via the Uzbek Presidential Administration's statement.

According to the statement, the program was adopted during the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council between the two countries, chaired by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"It was emphasized that in recent years, Uzbek-Kazakh relations have gained significant momentum. In preparation for the visit, successful meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council were held, along with a business forum, political consultations, an analytical center forum, and intellectual games.

Film days, exhibitions, concerts, and many other events are held. The leaders of the two countries welcomed the adoption of the historic Strategic Partnership and Alliance Program for 2024–2034, which marks the beginning of a new qualitative phase in Uzbek-Kazakh relations of friendship and good neighborliness," the statement said.

The meeting has also been a hot topic of discussion, exploring the ins and outs of ramping up trade volumes to a whopping $10 billion in the near future.

"For this purpose, a separate program will be adopted by the end of the month. Special attention will be given to mutual market development and the removal of existing restrictions. The leader of our country emphasized the need for a new strategy for industrial cooperation," the statement reads.

The statement pointed out that the parties welcomed the signing of a substantial package of agreements amounting to $7 billion, following the recent business forum and business meetings.

"This involves cooperation in energy, logistics, construction, chemical, electrical engineering, textile, agro-industrial, and other sectors. An agreement has been reached to expedite the launch of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation and to work on creating a joint fund for financial support of promising projects," the statement underscored.

To note, Mirziyoyev set off for an official visit to Kazakhstan on August 7.

The Uzbek leader's visit program also envisages his attendance in the new Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the First 'Central Asia + Japan' Dialogue.
