ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 9. Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has announced the cancellation of his four-day visit to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia during a press conference in Nagasaki, Trend reports via the Japanese media.
The reason for canceling the visit was a warning from the meteorological agency about the growing risk of a potential strong earthquake in the vast Pacific Ocean stretching from southwest to central Japan.
As a part of the visit, the prime minister's participation in the first-ever summit of the 'Central Asia plus Japan' Dialogue in Astana on August 9 was scheduled.
To note, on August 8, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred in Japan, after which a tsunami threat was declared. The epicenter was located near Miyazaki Prefecture, on the island of Kyushu. The outbreak lay at a depth of 30 km under the ocean floor.
