ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 9. Central Asian countries will approve a roadmap for the development of regional cooperation, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said during the sixth Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Astana today, Trend reports via Akorda.

"A significant event in the context of improving the mechanisms of our interaction will be the approval today of the Roadmap for Regional Cooperation Development until 2027. This document is aimed at enhancing intergovernmental coordination and strengthening oversight of the implementation of initiatives proposed on this platform.

Besides, another important document aimed at developing regional cooperation, 'Central Asia – 2040', will be signed. These and other steps are evidence of our collective commitment to comprehensive regional interaction for the benefit of our peoples," he also said.

Tokayev added that, given the current challenging geopolitical and economic realities, it is crucial to maintain a high pace of development in regional cooperation.

To note, high-level discussions within the sixth Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State are covering current issues of multilateral cooperation and prospects for regional interaction.
