Kazakhstan continues strengthening ties with OSCE, Council of Europe

(KAZINFORM) - On July 3 in Brussels started its work the 15th annual session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, attended by delegation of Kazakhstan Parliament led by Senate Speaker Nurtai Abykayev.

According to press service of the Higher Chamber of Parliament, in his speech head of Kazakh delegation confirmed Kazakhstans intention to strengthen contacts with OSCE Parliamentary Assemblies and Council of Europe, develop partnership relations with European Union in future, reports Trend.

N. Abykayev stressed that activation of political, economic and energy cooperation between EU and Kazakhstan, specific stabilizing role of the latter in establishment of effective dialogue of civilizations demonstrated necessity of accession of relations with Europe to the brand new level. Realization of Strategy of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Kazakhstans entry into the 50 most competitive countries of the world is directed to this purpose as well.

Mr. Abykayev informed Parliamentary Assembly of successive steps, focused on further democratization of Kazakhstani society, activity of State Commission on Democratic Reform Programs Development and Specification in Kazakhstan, oncoming 2nd Conference of World and Traditional Religions Leaders in Astana.

Chairman of Senate confirmed Kazakhstans commitment to promotion of its candidacy for presidency in OSCE in 2009 and assured that our country was aware to the full of responsibility of such a post.

Within the framework of Parliamentary Assembly N. Abykayev took part in working meetings with chairman of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly A. Hastings and initiators of Brussels forum, Speakers of Belgian Parliament A.M. Lisin and Herman de Croo.

The sides exchange views on wide range of issues on organizations activity and international collaboration in the sphere of provision of energy security and dialogue of civilizations. In this connection administration of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly positively estimated information on forthcoming participation of Nursultan Nazarbayev in the sitting of G8 in Saint Petersburg and appreciated role of our state in maintenance of stability of energy supplies to the world markets.

Giving a speech at the plenary session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, on behalf of its organizers, chairperson of Belgian Senate Ann Mari Lisin noted high level of development of fruitful ties with Kazakhstan, stressed efficiency of contacts at the level of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly delegations heads and constructiveness of steps, taken by Belgian and Kazakh Senates on promotion of positive experience in the sphere of international and inter-confessional relations.

Belgian side confirmed also that first deputy of Belgian Senate Speaker would participate in the 2nd Conference of World and Traditional Religions Leaders in Astana.
