Head of Kazakhstan continues official visit to Jordan

(gazeta.kz) - Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, continues his official three-day visit to Jordan, Kazakhstan Today reports citing the presidential press service.

According to the press service, yesterday afternoon Mr. Nazarbayev laid flowers to the mausoleums of King Hussein, King Abdullah I, and King Talal.

Besides, the President visited the city administration of Amman. Omar al-Maani, mayor of the Jordanian capital gave Mr. Nazarbayev a symbolical key for the city, reports Trend.

"An agreement on twinning between Amman and Astana is a map for the development of our relationship. Today Astana is a quickly developing modern city capable of giving an impact to a bigger economic and political growth of the country. Amman is one of the most ancient cities in this region and it is also developing very rapidly today. We are ready to develop our co-operation in all areas," - the mayor of Amman said.

Earlier, Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, and Abdullah II bin al-Hussein, King of Jordan, had held open and closed talks. A number of issues of the bilateral relationship, ways for intensifying co-operation and interaction between Kazakhstan and Jordan had been discussed.

In particular, the sides agreed to open their embassies and to create a Kazakh-Jordanian Business Council, to intensify cultural and humanitarian co-operation.

Intergovernmental agreements on co-operation in education and science, on bilateral co-operation between the governments, on commercial and economic co-operation between the two governments, on promotion and mutual protection of investments, and an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan and the Supreme Council for Jordanian Youth Affairs on co-operation in youth policies were inked as a result of the meeting.
