Health Minister reported on HIV-infection situation in South Kazakhstan

( http://www.gazeta.kz/ ) - The Security Council session considered the situation with HIV infection in the South-Kazakhstan oblast. The Minister of Health Anatoly Dernovoy informed at the briefing after the session.

"I reported on the accepted by the Ministry of Health together with the oblast akimat HIV infection liquidation measures in the South-Kazakhstan oblast," the Minister said. More than 56 thousand people have been examined, 93 children and 14 mothers have been diagnosed HIV positive.

The Minister also noted that more than 50 experts from Russia , Ukraine , Israel , Cuba and some international organizations have been involved in the work of HIV center in the South Kazakhstan oblast.

"Nowadays we are continuing the organization of treatment of children in sanatorium establishments of the Republic. In April the second group of mothers with their children will receive treatment in sanatoria of the Ministry of Health in Almaty," he informed.

"The situation of HIV infection in the Republic as a whole is quite tense," A. Dernovoy concluded. According to the Ministry of Health, 7557 HIV infection cases have been registered in Kazakhstan , 1745 cases were registered last year.
