Bakiev: Kyrgyzstan pins great hopes on Eurasian Economic Community

"We pin great hopes on the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC)," the President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiev told in an interview with one of the Russian newspapers Thursday, "24.kg" reported.

"Ideology of international partnership should be a cornerstone of our foreign policy. Coming back to the Manas airbase topic, I would like to note that the new agreement is a proof of productive transition from confrontation to partnership. Russia has always taken a special place in our foreign policy. I will repeat: Russia is our first strategic partner. Namely in security issues, as we sign a new agreement to prolong terms of Kant airbase operation in Kyrgyzstan for 49 years," Bakiev said.

As Bakiev stresses Kyrgyzstan pins great hopes on the Eurasian Economic Community. This time the Moscow summit took an unprecedented decision about a joint EurAsEC $10bln fund establishment. Of course it is a coercive measure, but it provides for the world economic crisis minimization. "The fund may also facilitate to economic and financial turndowns of EurAsEC member states," he said.
