Up to four tons of various drugs have been seized in Kyrgyzstan since January 2009, whereof about 1 ton is heavy drugs and the rest is marihuana and hashish, Bolotbek Nogoibaev, chief of the Kyrgyz Drug Enforcement Agency said.

Nogoibaev remained that Kyrgyzstan is a transit country, used for trafficking of Afghan drugs to Russia and denied allegations of some experts about possible transfer of drugs through the American Transit Trafficking Center at Manas.

"We are unaware of such facts. Several years ago we revealed trafficking of psychotropic substances trough Manas. I believe if the Americans transferred drugs though the Kyrgyz territory we would have known that," the minister added.
