Ex-president Askar Akayev is not on the voter list, KyrTAG reports with reference to the Chairman of election comission No.001 of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Russia Almaz Abdisiyev on Sunday.

"Kyrgyz citizen Askar Akayev did not get registered at the consulate and was not included in the voter list," he said.

The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Belarus also told KyrTAG that ex-President Kurmanbek Bakiyev is also not included in the voter list.

Presidental elections started in Kyrgyzstan on Sunday.

The polling stations were opened at 8:00 a.m. According to the new Constitution the President of Kyrgyzstan is elected for six years and only one presidential term.

2289 polling stations will as well as 29 polling stations in 23 countries worldwide.

Over 3 million voters are registered in the country to date.

792 international observers from 56 countries will monitor the elections.
