One Uzbek border guard was killed in shooting between Kyrgyz and Uzbek border guards in Kyrgyz Aksu regions's Zhetizagara area, Kyrtag reported with the reference to the Kyrgyz State Border Service on Tuesday morning.
According to the Kyrgyz State Border Service, Kyrgyz border detachment of three soldiers revealed two Uzbek border guards who had intruded into Kyrgyzstan's territory. Kyrgyz border guards demanded to leave Kyrgyzstan's territory but Uzbek border guards start to swear and then used weapons against the Kyrgyz border detachment. In return fire one Uzbek border guard was killed, another was wounded. Kyrgyz border guards were not injured.
Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Law Enforcement and Border Affairs Tokon Mamytov said that Kyrgyzstan would thoroughly investigate the incident.
"Border Guard and the military prosecutor's office will surely work on this case. Moreover we will meet with the Uzbek side, and within the meeting will consider a possibility of creating a joint interstate commission," Mamytov said.
