Import from China to Kyrgyzstan in 2017 amounted to $ 1.5 billion, Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Xiao Qinghua told at a meeting with reporters in Bishkek, Kabar reports.

He said that the overall trade turnover between China and Kyrgyzstan in 2017 amounted to $ 1 billion 591 million and grew by 3.2% compared to 2016.

"Kyrgyzstan's exports to China amounted to $ 97.5 million and grew by 21.7%. Evidently, the growth of exports from the Kyrgyz Republic to China began to grow," he said.

The ambassador noted that Kyrgyzstan is located along the Silk Road, which passes from ancient times.

"Kyrgyzstan is an important country along the Silk Road Economic Belt. China and Kyrgyzstan have political mutual trust, strategic partnership is constantly strengthening. We began to build this relationship in 2013, when Chinese President Xi Jinping was here with state visits," Xiao Qinghua said.

He added that cooperation between the two countries affects all areas, including politics, trade, culture, education and infrastructure.

"We are open for cooperation. Both countries support each other on important issues, and close ties connect us in international and regional affairs. We view Kyrgyzstan as our reliable and long-term partner. We are ready to further develop multi-disciplinary cooperation," the diplomat said.

The ambassador also touched upon the initiative of China One Belt, One Road and the importance of this project for all the participating countries. He also noted that China has already invested $ 20 billion in countries along this road.
