Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov received Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan Yoshihiro Yamamura on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports citing Kabar.

The speaker thanked Yoshihiro Yamamura for his fruitful work and personal contribution to the development of Kyrgyz-Japanese relations and strengthening of friendship between the two peoples, the press service of the Parliament said.

During the meeting, Dzhumabekov stressed the two countries had seen fruitful cooperation in the economic sphere. During the period of Yoshihiro Yamamura's activity, grant projects worth over JPY 10 billion were signed.

The speaker also noted the ambassador's personal contribution to the development and strengthening of cooperation between the parliamentarians of Kyrgyzstan and Japan. A delegation of the Japan Parliamentary Friendship League on cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic visited Bishkek in September 2018.

During the visit, the First Kyrgyz-Japanese Inter-parliamentary Forum was held, which provided an opportunity to discuss promising areas of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, the return visit of the Jogorku Kenesh Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by its head MP Taalai Masabirov is planned on Sept. 29 this year.

In turn, Japanese Ambassador Yoshihiro Yamamura expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome. He also expressed the view that the relationship between Kyrgyzstan and Japan would be strengthened and expanded.

At the end of the meeting, Speaker Dzhumabekov presented Yoshihiro Yamamura with a Certificate of Honour of the Jogorku Kenesh, having wished success and prosperity.
