Daniyar Mukashev, Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva held meeting with Indrika Ratwatte, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Director for Asia and the Pacific, Trend reports with reference to Kabar which cited the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Affairs.

The sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation of Kyrgyzstan with UNHCR, project activities of the organization in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the planned participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov in the High-level Segment of the 70th session of the Executive Board of UNHCR on Oct. 7-8 this year in Geneva, dedicated to the fight against statelessness.

Ratwatte highly appreciated the efforts of the Kyrgyz Government in eradicating statelessness, stressing that Kyrgyzstan was one of the first in the world to end this problem.

He also noted that the participation of Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister in this event will allow the country to share its experience in this difficult issue.
