Kyrgyzstan, UN consider issues of further partnership

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. The United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grawe, met with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, Trend reports citing the press service of the UN Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, Japarov congratulated Grawe on her appointment and looked forward to further deepening the Kyrgyzstan-UN partnership to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The parties discussed Kyrgyzstan's national development priorities as well as joint preparations for the new five-year UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), which will enter into effect in January 2023.

"In this context, they also exchanged views on implementing Kyrgyzstan’s ambitious climate action initiatives and agreed to continue the close dialogue on the preservation of mountainous ecosystems and biodiversity," the message says.

Furthermore, Japarov and Grawe also discussed ongoing efforts to meet the immediate needs of over 77,700 of the most vulnerable among the affected people in Batken, as part of the recently launched Response Plan of the Disaster Response Coordination Unit (DRCU).
