Russia to support railway construction project in Kyrgyzstan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 10. A memorandum was signed between the Russian Export Center, Kyrgyz Temir Zholu (Railways of Kyrgyzstan) and Russian RZD International on the sidelines of the Bishkek Investment Summit on December 9, 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Russian Export Center.

The memorandum was related to a joint project - building a railway in Kyrgyzstan.

The the construction of the Balykchy - Kochkor - Kara-Keche railway line in Kyrgyzstan will lay the foundation for a new railway junction, the development of the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.

"The Russian Export Center plans to assist in attracting financing for the project. The project aims towards a unified railway network within Kyrgyzstan and will be a significant step towards the full disclosure of the country's railway potential," the Russian Export Center said.

Meanwhile, in the future the line can connect with the planned railway along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan route and will create ample opportunities for the socio-economic development of the entire Central Asian region.
