BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 11. The World Bank (WB) has published an updated Kyrgyzstan’s GDP growth forecast for 2023-2024, Trend reports referring to WB's Global Economic Prospects January 2023 report.
According to the World Bank, Kyrgyzstan's GDP growth is expected at 3.5 percent in 2023, before strengthening to 4 percent in 2023.
"Growth in Central Asia is projected to remain flat at 3.9 percent in 2023, with activity held back by weak external demand, especially from Russia and China. Although growth in both Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is expected to exceed previous projections, renewed border tensions between the two countries pose headwinds to the outlook," the WB said.
Meanwhile, in June of last year the World Bank projected Kyrgyzstan's GDP growth in 2022 at -2 percent, before strengthening to 3.4 percent in 2023.
