BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. Kyrgyzstan imported 2.8 billion kWh of electricity worth $73.5 million in 2022, which is an increase of 62 percent over 2021 (1.6 billion kWh of electricity), Trend reports via the State Statistic Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

In the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan registers a sharp increase in electricity imports from Turkmenistan - 2.1 billion kWh of electricity worth $59 million, which is more than a 300 percent increase over 2021 (498 million kWh).

Kyrgyzstan also imported 692 million kWh of electricity worth $14 million from Kazakhstan in 2022, it is a little increase over 2021 (680 million kWh).

Electricity from Turkmenistan flows to Kyrgyzstan via Uzbekistan’s energy system, according to the agreement signed between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan exported 457 million kWh of electricity in 2022, which is a decrease of 17 percent over 2021 (547 million kWh).
