BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 21. Kyrgyzstan exported 257.1 tons of honey from January through December 2022, which is a decrease of 35 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (395.3 tons), Trend reports with via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

The value of honey exports from Kyrgyzstan amounted to $1.1 million last year, from $1.6 million in 2021.

During the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan mostly exported honey to the UAE (38.1 tons for $160,400), Saudi Arabia (38.1 tons for $139,900), China (37.3 tons for $103,800), and South Korea (35.9 tons for $154,600).

At the same time, the country also supplied some 22.4 tons of honey worth $112,100 to the US in 2022. Notably, in Russia Kyrgyzstan exported only 12.3 tons of honey for $57,200.

Kyrgyzstan also exported honey to Japan, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, Malaysia, Jordan, Bahrain, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Kyrgyzstan resumed exports of honey to China from November 14, 2022. Initially, the ban on exports was imposed in 2019 due to COVID-19.

Kyrgyzstan also expanded the geography of honey exports in 2022. According to the head of Kyrgyz National Agency of Investment, first contracts on the supply of Kyrgyzstan’s honey to the Arabic countries were signed in June 2022.
