BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev and Director for the Middle East, Asia and Pacific of European Union Peteris Ustubs signed an agreement on financing a green economy program in Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.
The EU's contribution will be carried out by providing financial support to the existing program called Green Economy and Sustainable Development of the Private Sector in Kyrgyzstan, which has been implemented in the country since 2020.
This program is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). With additional support from the EU and ongoing support from the Swiss and German governments through BMZ, GIZ plans to expand its activities in the country.
Additional funds will be utilized for developing green economic policies, enhancing value chains, and facilitating communication to promote social changes.
The program will support local producers and entrepreneurs to improve their income and encourage the use of green technologies.
Amangeldiev noted that moving in this direction will enable Kyrgyzstan to systematically diversify its economic model.
According to him, these programs will contribute to measures taken to prevent climate change, develop a green and sustainable economy, promote green businesses, and address important areas such as social development, public welfare, and communication.
