BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. A total of 158,100 tons of meat were produced in Kyrgyzstan in the first quarter of 2023, Trend reports.
According to the country's Ministry of Agriculture, this figure is 1.4 percent or 165,000 tons more than in the same period of the previous year.
Earlier, it was noted that over 6,100 rural producers in Kyrgyzstan have received preferential loans under the "Agricultural Financing" project, totaling over 2.7 billion soms ($30.8 million) as of June 1, 2023.
Agriculture, which acts as the cornerstone of Kyrgyzstan's economy, engages around 40 percent of the country's labor force.
Kyrgyzstan predominantly cultivates key agricultural commodities such as apples, apricots, cherries, sugar beets, beans, cotton, tobacco, and walnuts. When it comes to livestock farming, the country concentrates on sheep, goats, cattle, and wool, while also rearing chickens, horses, and pigs.
